There is one good song on the CD and that is Optimistic. What in the world happened. Not to pretend to be a huge Radiohead fan, but at least a fan of popular music. Actually, most of the music may not qualify as songs, so Optimistic is one of only a few actual songs on the CD. And how did so many publications and people seemingly enjoy this. This is no Bends or Pablo Honey. I have to believe that Yorke put this out to see if people would simply buy and enjoy anything after the fuss over OK Computer. Buy the mp3 for Optimisitc and skip the rest.
It's so creepy, dark. On the other hand, "How to dissapear completely" is one of the most beautiful Radiohead's songs to date. "Everything in its the right place" starts the album with Thom Yorke singing "I woke up sucking a lemon" WTH. "Optimistic-In limbo" are just two great abstract tunes that Radiohead attached here. Thom Yorke said right after the album was realesed that this one was "a commercial suicide" and man was he so right. The songs here are not radio friendly at all. How on earth anyone could ever imagine that a band like Radiohead would come with an album like this. Then, "Treefingers" seems to be an intermission for all the paranoia to come.
The two last tracks "Morning bell" and "Motion picture soundtrack" are just the greatest way to close the album. This album was the first sight to what it was about to come in the following years with an intelligent Radiohead saying to the music industry how tired they were of it. can't talk about it, you have to listen to it. The album went to number 1 on billboard right after its realese and funnily enough Thom Yorke declares that Radiohead and charts don't get along. Then, "KID A" goes on and this is the one where you think "Radiohead has just lost its mind" This is such a difficult song to listen to that the media would just rather call it "pure garbage and noise" but, if you really pay attention, Yorke and Greenwood's real intentions here are to challenge us to understand how the whole wide world is going downhill. really dark and so careless about pleasing anyone or anything for that matter. and "Idioteque" becomes the uncomfortable factor to all the politicians all over the world.
not to mention the fact that the melody is so weird and beautiful at the same time. "The national anthem" might be the song that any fan can find "listenable" but then, as a terminal patient at the hospital just when you think everything is going ok then again, it gets an epilepsia's attack after the catchy bass line with all the trumphets and stuff. Here Radiohead goes electronic and they just hit the bull's eye with pinpoint accuracy. Awesome record that amazes anyone who thought they knew Radiohead.
I didnt order this.and I dont remembering order this cd.what for. I already have one.But this is a great minimal album I dont mind having the second cd. But dont let it happen for next time ok.
Kid A being Radiohead's 4th studio album and their 2000 release is a very experimental album that can be called both alternative rock and electronic music. The booklet is very avantgarde and contains no lyrics and many strange paintings. The album met with mixed reviews but was a massive hit in many countries. The album peaked at #1 in the UK chart, Billboard 200, Ireland, Canada, France and in New Zealand. I am very impressed by this album and it is one of the better albums that I have heard for quite some time. 4/5.
The title track is probaly one of the best tracks on the album containing distorted vocals and futuristic space sounding keyboards its a song that makes you think about the future and Earth's place in the Universe. Kid A takes a huge experimental leap from the bands, "OK Computer", realesed three years before this album. Kid A was realesed right at the turn of the millenium and sounds like the music of the 21st Century and is one of the few albums of this millenium and century that have become truly classic albums yet. Other songs like, "The National Anthem", "How To Dissapear Completley", and "Idioteqque", are also worth hearing. Kid A combines rock with music like, ambient, electronic, and space music and combines it to make one of the most interesting albums ever realeased. The album starts out with, "Everything In It's Right Place", even though everything on that track is not in its right place, with everything being mixed with pro tools. The one song on here that really stands out is, "Treefingers", which is a 4 minute ambient song that abruptly stops and goes straight into a more rocking song, "Optimistic", that makes you jump out of your seat every time hearing. Kid A is an album worth hearing inleast once in your life and will be music that will still be popular 50 years from now, so if you want to hear what music will be like or be influenced from in 25-50 years from now listen to this album.
